Born in 1967 in Cork, Ireland, Fin DAC actively practices his craft around the globe.
He is a self-taught and non-conformist urban artist who has defined and perfected a unique style of aerosol painting that he has dubbed « Urban Aesthetics. » This style has led to a sensational and successful career in just over a decade, with his works, screen prints, and originals now highly sought after.
Undoubtedly, he is now an artist with an international following of loyal collectors. Through his work, Fin explores themes related to the empowerment of women, shifting the male gaze, and disrupting colonialist attitudes, particularly surrounding the oriental experience.
Fin is known for his depictions of Eurasian women and draws inspiration from traditional and ceremonial attire in which these subjects engage. However, his interest is not superficial or thoughtless. In his portrayal of these women, Fin DAC reframes the racial and gender stereotypes surrounding them, creating a narrative that celebrates their sensuality with cultural sensitivity rather than appropriation.
When working in an outdoor context, the women that Fin DAC paints are often tall and imposing, asserting ownership of their urban environment, yet equally feminine, with classically delicate features. Through this duality, Fin asserts that women are both powerful and vulnerable, aesthetic and intellectual, physically capable and endowed with deep emotional reserves.
Although his murals can be found in countries and continents around the world, Fin remains an outsider artist in the street art scene, preferring to forge his own individual path with personal projects.
