In the late 1980s, Steph Cop (1968) was part of the first French graffiti movement.
He was an activist within the group « Control of Paris. » He is renowned for covering the fences of the Louvre Pyramid with graffiti during its construction in 1986, becoming one of the artists associated with this movement. In 1992, he played a role in the creation of a subsequent trend known as « streetwear » through his own brands « Homecore » and « Lady Soul. » In 1998, Steph Cop shifted his work towards the physical representation of his graphic universe by creating one of the first « Art Toys » with his vinyl character, A.R.O, « Analyse Reflexe Obsessionnelle, » which sold worldwide. In 2007, he chose to isolate himself in the heart of the Morvan forests to recreate A.R.O., which has materialized for over 10 years within fallen centuries-old trees in their natural environment. His works are now part of some of the most prestigious public and private collections.
