momies (france)

Momies (born 1976) began his journey in the Montpellier graffiti scene in 1993 under the pseudonym Pyre, and he was part of the first wave of graffiti artists in Montpellier.

Starting with traditional graffiti, he gradually developed a more graphic aspect to his work over the years, adapting perfectly to the style of the POW (Fode, Pang, Vania, Mire, etc.), which he joined in 1998. Momies is a discreet yet influential artist on the local scene, known for his unique style characterized by indefinable, industrial, and rounded shapes that have been dubbed « modules. »

These modules, developed during his interrail sessions with Vania (as they require few paint cans and little time to create), are Momies’ trademark. His numerous travels abroad (UK, New York, Belgium, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Portugal) have allowed him to acquire and solidify this unmistakable style. Momies is undeniably a key player in the southern France graffiti scene, as he has left his mark through various artistic projects in Montpellier (decorating gyms, cultural centers, etc.), and he is regularly invited to participate in urban culture festivals (BOTY, Meeting Of Style, etc.).
