Born John Andrew Perello in 1963 in New York, the self-taught artist developed his signature colorful abstract style with dynamic brushstrokes, drips, and patterns.

John ‚JonOne‘ Perello himself describes his art as “abstract expressionist graffiti”. Although many other writers painted figurative characters, he very early decided to express himself differently using only writing. This decision made him stand out form other writers as well as caught the attention of gallerists. In 1985 his works were exhibited for the first time at Rick Librizzi Gallery in New York. Soon after in 1987 he moved to Paris, where he still lives and works today. Since 1990 his works were exposed in countless solo and group exhibitions around the world, such as, Tokyo, Monaco, Paris, Zurich, New York, Hong Kong, Brussels and Moscow.

The multifaceted interests in John ‚JonOne‘ Perello led him to various collaborations with Hennessey, Guerlain, Air France and many more. 2015 turned out to be a culminating point of his career, when he was awarded with the Légion d’ Honneur from the French Republic. He was therefore commissioned to reinterpret Delacroix’s famous painting Liberty Leading the Peoplewhich was inaugurated at the Palais Borbon, the headquarter of the French National Assembly.
