jc earl (france)

Julien Cadou, also known as JC Earl, is a plastic artist who is specialized in ceramic sculpture but also expresses himself through painting, illustration and graphic design.

The artist is born in 1974 in Paris. At the age of 8, he learned ceramics at school and never abandoned it. With 13 he created his first tags and discovered the universe of graffiti in Paris. Attracted by the quirky oeuvre of Hervé Di Rosa or the stunning pottery by Grayson Perry, JC Earl has developed an authentic sensitivity and interest for folk art. Considering himself as an “educated animal”, he sharpened his edgy writing to express himself “with urgency” over the years. For a couple of years, he autodidact has voluntarily presented his works with his heart and soul: “It’s all I can do” he said, proposing a raw and native aesthetic approach but nevertheless including  an educated artistic claim.

Ceramics assumed an introspective role in his career. JC Earl has since been developing characters with a strong, provoking and authentic aesthetic.

Since 2010 he has been exhibition his artistic creations throughout Europe, especially in France and Belgium. In 2017, his art works became part of the permanent collection of the MIMA (Millennium Iconoclast Museum of Art) in Brussels.
