hush (uk)

Hush (1976) is a British artist born in Newcastle and currently residing in London. He is considered one of the rising figures in contemporary urban art by the English newspaper The Independent (cf. ‘Top 20 Up and Coming Artists’).

The artist’s practice is rich in artistic techniques and inspired by his many travels around the world, allowing him to develop a multicultural style to highlight the diversity of feminine sensuality. From his early works, strongly influenced by Asian traditions, Hush eloquently and elegantly emphasizes femininity, blending tradition and modernity with perfection.

A graduate of the Newcastle School of Art and Design, and driven by the desire to explore the world, Hush embarked on a journey to the Asian continent that strongly influenced his artistic aesthetics. He was not only fascinated by historical Asian female icons but also by contemporary Japanese and Chinese women who, in their fashion styles, combine Western influences with ancestral culture, using traditional fabrics tailored to Western fashion. The artist drew inspiration from this contrast when creating his highly recognizable aesthetic, which he develops both in public spaces and on canvas.

From his London studio, Hush is currently preparing exhibition projects, murals, art installations, and publications, which he deploys in major cities such as Los Angeles, New York, Miami, London, Basel, San Francisco, Berlin, and finally Paris.
