Born in 1973 in the suburbs of Paris, Bom.k discovered graffiti at the age of 17 through the influential books « Spray Can Art » and « Subway Art » by Martha Cooper and Henry Chalfant.
Under the influence of pioneers like Mode 2, the Force Alphabétik, Creator, and many others, he delved into the grammar of the movement on walls, vacant lots, trains, where he multiplied tags, throw-ups, and heavily New York-inspired murals. In 1999, he co-founded the Da Mental Vaporz collective with Iso and began producing more personal and intimate graffiti. Padded isolation rooms, nightmarish concrete bars, gaunt B-boys with sinister expressions.
The universe he developed on immense murals is a reflection of his world: raw, dirty, mean, and suburban. Soon joined by Kan, Jaw, Brusk, Gris1, Dran, Blo, and Sowat within this atypical collective, Bom.k expanded his infernal bestiary and embarked on artistic experiments outside industrial wastelands. He participated in his first exhibitions (Paris, Nantes, St Étienne…) and published a notable book of illustrations: « HB blacktrace » by Éditions Populaires. Today, he focuses his work on widescreen canvases, upon which he paints insane « aerotic » creatures, sexual and hybrid chimeras that seem to have escaped from a Francis Bacon painting. If you gaze at them long enough, they appear to breathe, come to life, and crawl toward the viewer.
